A couple of years ago, I first heard about Kyrgyzstan from a friend who had grown up there. The idea of exploring a relatively isolated country that was once dubbed the "Pearl of the Silk Road" intrigued me. The country came back into my focus in early 2023 when I discovered that only a handful of photo series had ever been created about it, leaving it largely undocumented and the people and culture somwhat forgotten. Upon learning this, I reached out to my friend and decided to take on a personal project: documenting the captivating landscapes and the people that inhabit them. I chose to shoot exclusively on 120-film, which turned out to be a fantastic decision. This journey has easily become one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had in my photographic endeavors.
